Luis Colon returned peacefully to Heavenly Father and his parents Consuelo and Angel Colon. He will be remembered for his deep spirituality, leadership, sense of humor, love for his family, and his ability to inspire others through his words and actions. The youngest of five children, his family was one of the first Puerto Rican families in Hartford. Through his work with SAMA, the Puerto Rican Forum, and countless community organizations he bettered the world around him. His quest for enlightenment, desire to share spiritual teachings, and fire walking, touched many lives. He will be intensely missed by his family and the city he loved. He is survived by his children; Elise Shmanski, Gregory Brown, Leticia Colon de Mejias, Jason Colon, and Alexia Colon, his grandchildren, Jonathon, Myles, Jordan, Mia, Nya, Liam, Amelia, David and Rachael. His siblings, Raul Colon, Rosa Barber, Angel Colon, Jose Colon, many nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as countless dedicated friends. Services will be held on Sunday, September 9th, 1 p.m. at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor. Burial with military honors will follow in Windsor's Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Luis' family will receive friends from 12 Noon to 1 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Following the services a spiritual ceremony to honor his life's work will be held at his home. Any donations or contributions should be made to the YES Foundation, 398 Palisado Ave., Windsor CT 06095. All donations will support service projects in Hartford CT.
