David T. Bane, Sr. Obituary

David T. Bane, Sr., 74, of Ellington passed away Monday, March 1, 2010, at Rockville Hospital, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Born in Hartford to David Martin Bane and Nora (Tully) Bane. He attended Hartford Public High School and was on the football team all 4 years. At 18, Dave joined the IBEW Local 35 electrician’s union, where his career spanned 40 years. He married his high school sweetheart, Lettie Evelyn Angeloni, and together raised six children during their 53-year marriage. Dave and Lettie resided in Tolland for over 40 years, where all their children graduated from Tolland High School. At retirement Dave and Lettie relocated to Ellington. Lettie passed away in 2008. Dave was an avid boater and served as Commander of the Manchester Power Squadron and the Nayaug Yacht Club of Glastonbury. Dave and Lettie were also members of Pattaconk Yacht Club in Chester for over 30 years. Dave was a life-time member of the Elks Club. He was also an avid bowler, sport fisherman and poker player. He cherished time with his family, Giants football, Yankees baseball and UConn & Celtics basketball. Known for his big blue eyes and jovial personality, he was a friend to many, loved by his family, and will be missed by all. Dave is survived by his six children: Susan Berube of Ellington, Linda Nightingale and her husband Arthur of Bristol, David T. Bane Jr. and his wife Devra of Rocky Hill, Diane Vizard and her husband John of Mansfield, Sharon Landolina and her husband James of Tolland and Thomas Bane and his wife Janice of Tolland: eighteen grandchildren: 2 great grandchildren; sister Margaret Partridge and her husband Dick of West Hartford, brother Terry Bane and his wife Margie of Chester, and sister Susan LaRose and her husband Ray of Higganum and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 4th from 5-8 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Friday, March 5th at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00 a.m. in St. Matthews Church, 111 Tolland Green, Tolland, followed by Burial at St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Rockville.
