Anita Twarkins, 91, of Windsor, beloved wife of the late Stephen A. Twarkins, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Kimberly Hall in Windsor. Born in Salem, MA to the late Joseph and Emelie (Demeule) Gagnon, she was raised in Salem before coming to Windsor with her husband of over 60 years. Anita was a member of St. Gabriel Church in Windsor and was a Red Cross volunteer for almost 30 years. She and Steve loved bowling and enjoyed boating and visiting the beach. Anita was at home in the outdoors and liked hiking, gardening, and horseback riding. She was a loving mother to her six children and her greatest passion was her family. She is survived by her sons, Michael Twarkins of Waterbury, William Twarkins and his wife Martha of Lodi, NY, Robert Twarkins of Pueblo, CO, and Daniel Twarkins of Windsor; her daughters Jean Hillery and her husband Brian, of Windsor, and Christina Twarkins and her husband Hank Doran of North Stonington; her brother Robert Gagnon and his wife Claire, of Beverly, MA, her sisters, Lillian Gajewski, of Beverly, MA, Theresa and Jacqueline Gagnon, both of Salem, MA. Anita will be missed by her grandchildren, Stephen, Vanessa, Nathan, Kyle, and René. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 AM Friday, August 3 at St. Gabriel Church, 379 Broad St. Windsor. In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations in Anita's name to Masonicare Home Health & Hospice, 111 Founders Plaza Suite 200 East Hartford, CT 06108.
